Lundi Gras Zoo Trip
Since the kids were all out of school for Mardi Gras week, Jane & I decided to bring them to the zoo to keep them busy. They had a great time!

Let the Shopping Begin...
Although I hate the idea of having to change my blog name, it looks like it may be necessary come May.
Chase & Cole were not thrilled when they found out that they were having a sister instead of another brother, and Cole has even suggested that we just "pretend" that the baby is a boy so we can name it "Baby Jesus" like he had planned, but I think they're getting over it. Chase hasn't stopped giggling since I explained how the doctor was able to tell that the baby was a girl (he thought that they were checking to see if the baby had long hair (girl) or short hair (boy), and so I explained the difference, which he promptly repeated to his brother, and they haven't stopped talking -and giggling- about it since).
I, on the other hand, have been vigorously stimulating the economy this past week. I've never been able to shop on the pink side of the store before, and I must say, it's fun.

New Year's Eve
Christmas "Morning"
Just a few short hours after putting out cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer, Chase woke us up a little after midnight to tell us that Santa had been here. We told him to go to bed, but he kept coming back to our room with one excuse after another (needed to use the bathroom, needed a drink of water, etc.) until about 2:30. At that time, he woke up Cole and got him involved in harrassing us. They watched tv and asked REPEATEDLY if it was morning yet until 6, when we finally gave in and got up.
They got right down to business opening presents and were very pleased with their loot, even though Santa didn't bring them the things they asked for (they asked for anything and everything they saw in a commercial, no matter how useless).
Cole got the most excited when he opened his superhero pajamas with the cape. He immediately took off his dinosaur pajamas and changed into Superman, and then a few minutes later when he opened his Batman pajamas, he changed into those. He wore the Batman pajamas for the rest of the day, and he still changes into them every day after school. When it's just not appropriate to wear superhero pj's, we tell him he has to put on his "Clark Kent's," and he'll grudgingly put on real clothes.
Santa brought Chase a BB gun. He's been "hunting" ever since, and can tell some serious fish stories about his success.

Ninjas and Dinos and Dogs, Oh My!
We had a great time for Halloween last night. Logan came over to trick-or-treat (or "trickle treat," according to Cole) with Chase and Cole and the rest of the kids in the neighborhood. Chase rode his scooter, Cole walked, and Logan rode in his wagon. They collected quite a bit of loot.
Here they are getting ready to go:
