Life is just better with a bow.

Cole's 1st Day of Pre-K

Even though Cole was upset about his friends not being in his class this year, he was still excited to start school. He seemed happy when he got back in the car at the end of the day, but the only thing I could get out of his was that his teacher is "kind of bossy." I tried to explain to him that she is, in fact, the boss, but I'm not sure if he's buying it.
Cole's first day was a jeans day at school, so I'll have to take more pictures another day when he's in his uniform.

First Day of 2nd Grade

Poor Chase almost missed his first day of 2nd grade because his sleep-deprived mom apparently can't read. For who knows how long, I've had Chase's first day on my calendar as Wednesday August 19. Luckily, I ran into someone on Saturday who mentioned Monday to me and, when I insisted that school doesn't start until Wednesday, pulled out the school calendar and showed me. I didn't even have his uniform shoes yet. We ran a few last minute errands yesterday, and by this morning he was good to go.

Chase was pretty eager to go back to school today. I had to keep resetting his alarm for 6am, because he kept insisting he wanted to get up earlier and changing it. I even got him to pose for a few pictures AND I can even see a dimple in one of them!

Cole starts on Friday (I'm gonna double-check the date), but he's not so eager. All of his friends from last year are in the other pre-K class, including his Caroline (Caroline is the little girl from his class who he got in "trouble" for kissing last year and who he calls "my Caroline"). He didn't even want to look around his classroom on Saturday; he just kept saying "these aren't my friends." Knowing Cole, he'll get over it quickly once he actually starts.

I was worried about how I was going to get a pacifier away from her...

but look what she's switched to:

I tried to give her the pacifier, and as soon as I walked away, she spit it out and got her thumb in. Uh oh.

Love that pretty smile:

Brother for Sale

Chloe's Aunt Windy brought her this cute t-shirt back from her vacation last week.

Happy Girl

Proof that she does wear colors other than pink

I've gotten some complaints about Chloe's ugly green pacifier. I agree that it's ugly, but I think that all pacifiers are pretty ugly looking, and she sure does like that green one. But since I do love girly things, I bought Chloe 2 pink pacifiers yesterday. She's not a fan. See it sitting on the tray of the swing? That's about as close as she wants it to come to her. So the ugly green pacifier may be sticking around for a while. Maybe we can accessorize it with a bow...

You Can Never Have Too Many Tutus

After our friend made Chloe her first tutu, I decided to try to make one on my own. Chloe & I went to the store and found tulle to be fifty percent off, so I bought a few colors to start off with. My first attempt didn't turn out quite right, as I forgot that elastic stretches and ended up with a tutu that would probably be too big for Chase to wear (that's the peachy pink tutu in the Temperamental Model picture). My second attempt fits her much better. Here she is in it - see how happy she looks in it?
Our next tutu will be purple and gold for football season. I'll post pictures when we get that one finished. There may even be a bedazzled onesie to go with it.

Now, it has been suggested that I'm a little out of control here. I reject this suggestion. With tulle so inexpensive, there's just no limit to how many tutus I, I mean Chloe, can or should have.

She'll Never Be Lonely With These Two Around

The Boys' New Toy

While Chloe and I were having our photo shoot yesterday, Charles & the boys went for a boat ride in the new boat. I would have liked to go too, but will have to wait until Chloe grows into a life jacket. I think Charles kept them out on the water a little too long, because I could barely keep them in the boat long enough to snap this one picture. I'll have to try again when they're first getting in the boat.

She's 2 Months Old Already

Chloe is 2 months old now. We haven't been to the doctor for her well check yet, so I'm not sure how big she is right now, but I'd guess around 14 pounds. She's been wearing 3 month size clothes pretty much since the beginning, but a lot of them are getting to be too small.

She slept through the night twice this week; once on her own, and once when my monitor went out in the middle of the night. When I woke up at 4 that morning and realized that the monitor was off, I went to her room and found her still sleeping, so I have no idea whether she'd been asleep all that time or not.

She still has no hair, and I'm getting tired of being asked if she's a boy or a girl even though she's dressed in pink from head to toe, so I've taken matters into my own hands. I think she likes the bow -- she started smiling as soon as I put it in. Her daddy found it a little disturbing that the bow was glued to her head, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
