How to Make Chase Laugh

All it takes to crack Chase up is the word "butt."

Chase's Last Soccer Game

Saturday was Chase's last soccer game. He really improved a lot over the course of this season. At the beginning, he would usually just run (trot) along with everyone else and not really try to get at the ball. At some point, I (an obvious front-runner for mother-of-the-year) realized that he was wearing shoes that were WAY too small for him and that might have been slowing him down (His school uniform shoes were an 11.5, and despite the fact that he'd been complaining for a while that they were too tight, he just got them in August, so I assumed that they were fine and that he just wanted new shoes. When his complaints got more and more frequent, I had his feet measured and he needed a 3 XW. I'm surprised he could walk at all (I envision him walking with his toes curled under his feet.) Now, in my defense, his soccer shoes were a super roomy size 1, but I still think they may have hindered his running a little. Once we took care of the shoe situation, his speed on the soccer field increased dramatically.)

He scored his first goal of the season at his second-to-last game, and was really excited about his last game on Saturday. Unfortunately, the other team didn't show up, so our boys just had to split up and play against each other. I thought he would be really disappointed, but they got trophies and cupcakes after the "game," and that seemed to fix everything.

Now we start swim team. He is still insisting he doesn't want to do it (which only came up after I registered him), so we'll just have to see how that goes...

Batman & Superman to the Rescue

This afternoon while Cole was testing out his new batwings from Mrs. Jane, Mr. Charlie, John & Connor, Chase pulled out his old superman cape & they fought crime together. It was priceless.

Cole's 4th Birthday

For Cole's actual 4th birthday, we went to Chuck E Cheese's (at Cole's request) and then out for pizza. He had a GREAT time (I was exhausted).

The next weekend was his birthday party, and we planned a superhero party (he couldn't decide on just 1, so it was a batman, superman, spiderman combo). We rented a bouncehouse and were all ready to party when Cole started vomiting. After finding out that others in his class were sick too, we decided we'd have to cancel his party.

For a while, it looked like only Chase would get to enjoy the bouncehouse:
But by afternoon, Cole had perked up and was able to go out and play with Chase for a while before the bouncehouse people came back to pick it up. Here he is hamming it up for the camera:

Cole opening his Batman crocs:

And riding his new big boy bike:

And blowing out the candles on his Batman cake:

He was so sad that his friends didn't get to come over like we'd planned, but I think we managed to have a decent day after all. He's really getting to be such a big boy!

Lundi Gras Zoo Trip

Since the kids were all out of school for Mardi Gras week, Jane & I decided to bring them to the zoo to keep them busy. They had a great time!

Let the Shopping Begin...

Although I hate the idea of having to change my blog name, it looks like it may be necessary come May.

Chase & Cole were not thrilled when they found out that they were having a sister instead of another brother, and Cole has even suggested that we just "pretend" that the baby is a boy so we can name it "Baby Jesus" like he had planned, but I think they're getting over it. Chase hasn't stopped giggling since I explained how the doctor was able to tell that the baby was a girl (he thought that they were checking to see if the baby had long hair (girl) or short hair (boy), and so I explained the difference, which he promptly repeated to his brother, and they haven't stopped talking -and giggling- about it since).

I, on the other hand, have been vigorously stimulating the economy this past week. I've never been able to shop on the pink side of the store before, and I must say, it's fun.

New Year's Eve

Chase & Cole had a great time at Nana & Papa's playing outside with all of their Christmas presents. Chase got in plenty of hunting, and Cole did a good bit of yard work on his new Gator.
